Greystone is pleased to announce that Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, a non-profit, single-site Life Plan Community in Gainesville, Florida, has successfully closed on its long-term financing and started construction on its independent living expansion and common area renovation. The financing includes $93,500,000 in bonds, issued through the Alachua County Health Facilities Authority and underwritten by B.C. Ziegler and Company.
Situated on a 135-acre campus, Oak Hammock is one of the premier university retirement communities and currently offers 269 independent living apartments, 52 assisted living suites, 73 Medicare-certified skilled nursing suites, and 12 memory support residences, along with an array of dining venues and amenities.
The financing will fund the construction of The Canopy, a new independent living apartment building featuring 56 residences in a variety of one- and two-bedroom floor plans ranging from 1,000 to 1,524 square feet. In addition, the expansion will support significant renovations to the existing campus common areas, creating contemporary and inviting spaces, as well as the redevelopment of dining venues and amenities to enhance resident overall wellness, foster creativity, and inspire lifelong learning.
Oak Hammock achieved 100% presales in eleven weeks, ahead of the original schedule. First occupancy for the campus is expected in 2027.
