Greystone is pleased to announce that RiverWoods Durham, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Durham, NH, has closed on financing for its Phase II expansion.  

RiverWoods Durham opened in 2019 following exceptionally strong market demand, with its initial residences selling out in just 29 days. The community is part of The RiverWoods Group, a not-for-profit CCRC system that includes RiverWoods Exeter, RiverWoods Manchester, and RiverWoods Durham.

The $65 million financing provided by TD Bank supports an expansion that increases the community from 150 to 205 independent living residences. The Phase II expansion includes 55 new apartments across two residential buildings with floor plans ranging from approximately 730 to 1,300 square feet including one-bedroom, one-bedroom with den, and two-bedroom configurations.

In addition to the new residences, the expansion includes construction of a new 7,500-square-foot community center featuring a dining venue, club room, and activity space. The project also includes renovations and enhancements to existing common areas, including the fitness center, administrative offices, dining venues, auditorium, and music room. Consistent with RiverWoods' resident-centered approach to community planning, the expansion reflects ongoing resident engagement that helped shape amenities and spaces supporting wellness, connection, and long-term quality of life.

Prior to closing on financing, RiverWoods Durham secured deposits for all 55 Phase II residences, demonstrating sustained demand for the community and reinforcing the need for the expansion. This response reflected both the strength of the RiverWoods brand and continued demand for high-quality senior living options in New Hampshire.

Greystone has partnered with The RiverWoods Group since 2001, providing strategic advisory and development consulting services as the organization has grown from its original community, The Woods, into the multi-campus system it is today. Construction began in June 2026 with completion projected in fall 2027.
